A David City native who continued to perform with comedians like George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, David Spade and Jerry Seinfeld is going back to his roots.

Comedian Gary Menke – starring Austin Anderson and Ethan Abramson – is scheduled to take the stage starting at 8 p.m. Saturday at Shenanigans Bar, 3808 E. 23rd St. in Columbus. It costs $ 10 to watch the performance.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Menke said. “People are going to get their money’s worth in Columbus.”

Menke – who currently resides in Florida – said as a nationwide comic, the next show is his first in Columbus because the COVID-19 pandemic has “driven him” to Nebraska for now. Menke has been a stand-up comedian for 25 years, performing over 700 shows. He has made appearances on Comedy Central and the TV show, “the bridges of Nash. “

Menke joked that he got into acting because he “couldn’t keep a job”. But he added that he liked his stand-up work because it is one of the “last places of freedom”.

“You can say what you want, do what you want,” Menke said. “I like it a lot. I like to entertain people.
