Danger! fans stunned by ‘evil’ decision on show host which was later REVERSED after shocking scandal
DANGER! fans were left stunned by an “evil” ad resurfaced about who would host after the late Alex Trebek.
The show initially chose someone over Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik – but then VOID the decision due to its shocking outrage.
Danger! is currently on summer hiatus and airing reruns until season 39 airs on September 12.
Alum Ken, 48, will kick things off and host through January given official news last month that he will definitely be sharing the gig with Mayim, 46.
But before Ken and Mayim, there was Mayim and Mike Richards.
In 2021, the show shockingly made its first permanent pick, the disgraced executive producer — with Mayim hosting spinoffs and specials.
This decision was rediscovered this week as it happened a year ago – and has never been deleted online.
Their official 2021 tweet reads: “Announcement of Mayim Bialik and Mike Richards as new Jeopardy hosts!
Richards will host the syndicated daily show, while Bialik will host primetime and spin-off series.”
In the now infamous image, a grinning Mike was paired with Mayim against a Jeopardy! blue background.

“ONE YEAR AGO TODAY”
A fan quote tweeted the post on Thursday and wrote, “One year ago today.
“A day that will live in infamy…” one of them replied.
Another wrote: ‘Amazed they didn’t delete the tweet.
A third quipped: ‘The look on Mike Richards’ face screamed ‘I can’t believe my evil plan actually worked. “”
And a fourth: “Whoa. With everything that’s changed since then, it’s been way longer than a year.”
A sixth simply wrote: “Too early”.
THE BAD BUZZ OF MIKE RICHARDS
The show’s former executive producer was originally named Alex’s first official replacement, following the game show legend’s passing in 2020 – via this tweet.
But Mike’s race behind the podium lasted a total of a week, before he was forced to resign after controversial comments he had made in the past about his co-host Beth Triffon during his podcast The Randumb Show resurfaced.
Enter Ken as an emergency replacement.
The so-called Jeopardy! GOAT joined Mayim, and the two were named interim hosts until the end of the 2021-22 season, now officially doing so.
Less than two weeks after being replaced as host, Mike was fired from Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune completely.
Since then, Mike has led a seemingly quiet professional life – his last Instagram post was announcing the accommodation.
According to The Ringer, Mike previously made controversial comments about his podcast co-host Beth Triffon.
Among other things, Mike called Beth a “booth ho”, “booth slut”, and “boothstitute”.
In another episode, Mike discussed a photo of Beth and her friends as he called the group “really frumpy and overweight” and said “they all look terrible in the photo. .they look big and not good in the picture”.
He was also accused of making several racist and anti-Semitic jokes, attempting to justify them as humor.
After his resignation, Mayim’s role was expanded. And Ken also came on board.
LEVAR GETS BURNED
Underneath the original 2021 tweet, fans were already furious – one writing, “Ken Jennings stole and he’s keeping his hands to himself.”
Another wrote: “Should have been LeVar.”
It was later claimed by that fan-favorite guest host – LeVar Burton – that Mike put off letting Levar even try to host because he seemed to be looking for him from the inside.
Many celebrities were lucky enough to be invited for a week before Mike was cast, including LeVar.
But the Reading Rainbow character alleged he called Mike – who held Jeopardy’s top job, executive producer – early in the process to say how much he loved the game show and wanted to put his hat in the ring .
LeVar told The Ringer on the call: “[Mike] told me later that he didn’t believe me. He did not sense my passion in this call.
As well as agreeing with the reporter that it’s “interesting and surprising,” he added that Mike even told him at the time that the producer “wasn’t interested in the job.”
The 65-year-old said Mike told him it was just ‘his job to help them find the right person for the job’ and told him these things ‘twice’.
It wasn’t until fans created a massive online petition for LeVar to become Jeopardy’s new host! that LeVar called Mike back to convince him his “passion was genuine”.
He added: “It was only the scandal that forced Sony Pictures Television to go in a different direction.
“In fact, they tried to keep him. I mean, I don’t need to rehash the chain of events.
LeVar said he also partially agrees with some fans’ thinking that he was a bit “fooled by the process”, saying “it wasn’t a competition to find a new host, really, because the fix was still in place”.
“It really wasn’t what they were saying. And so my conclusion is that I got what I asked for: I got a try, I got a chance to be the guest host.
After the buttoned-up Mike rolled it all out for him, Season 38 resulted in a great reception for his replacement, Ken.
TWO HOSTS (FINAL)
When 39 begins, Ken will host from September 12 through January.
Mayim will then take the reins in January and host until the end of the season – as long as she is available.
The Big Bang Theory actress will balance her hosting duties while filming her Fox comedy, Call Me Kat.
Mayim will also host Celebrity Jeopardy! while Ken will host the Second Chance Tournament – the cast of which was announced last week – and the Tournament of Champions is announced on Monday.
The pair were officially announced by Jeopardy!, much like 2021’s overturned decision – with a split screen of him and Mayim and they’re set to hit the catwalk for years to come.
