Emmanuella at the head of an African comedy today

Popular Nigerian child comedian Emmanuella will headline a group of African comedians who will rock Doha during the African Comedy Festival on June 10 (today).
The event, to be held at Dana Club’s Al Jewan Hall, will enjoy a fun evening of jokes and music from the Mark Angel Comedy team and other sensational comedians including Eric Omondi from Kenya, Tumi Morake from Africa from the South and Salvador (Patrick Idringi) from Uganda.
The event organized by Oryx Group Entertainment and its partners will also see Qatar-based cultural groups performing like Kenyan Green Maasai Troupe, Ugandan Twegate Dance Group, Ghanaian Dance Ensemble and MC Justice.
“With the past two years of near-zero entertainment events due to the coronavirus and ensuing lockdown, residents of Qatar need something unique as we navigate the post-Covid-19 era. Therefore, we thought of hosting an amazing African Comedy Festival to redefine the pace of entertainment growth in Qatar and promote Africa in a positive way,” said Famous Aluya, CEO of Oryx Group Entertainment.
Aluya noted that the event would be another opportunity to showcase the strength of Qatar’s diverse community in terms of cultures – showing the unification that Qatar has helped build among its residents and citizens.
“As Qatar prepares to host the FIFA World Cup later this year, there is a need to raise the African pace as we join a host of other continents supporting Qatar on this incredible journey.
“It makes the show very meaningful and timely. For the very first time in Qatar, residents and nationals will have the opportunity to have a 100% African comedy show. This is an event that is not just for Africans, but open to all nationalities and all ages,” he added.
Tickets are available at the Virgin Megastore and other outlets.
