Jack Woods rocks the floating duck with a comedy show

On Saturday, November 5, 2022, Jack Woods ’23 hosted his first comedy show of the school year at Fluttering Duck with Max Sorich and Aaron Chase.

For this first start this semester, the Fluttering Duck was a perfect place for students, faculty and staff to meet and congregate in an intimate setting to order food and drinks and also a great setup to see each of the comedians each settled for the hour. Adorned with dim lighting, the duck provides the perfect atmosphere for lunch or dinner with friends or meeting up with your partner in a typical campus date spot. The Fluttering Duck also made the perfect spot for an intimate comedy club setting that didn’t just amp up the sets.

Filled with student laughter, the night was split into three sets with Woods leading the first, Sorich in the second and Chase ending in the third. Woods’ set featured jokes about DePauw culture, occasional self-deprecating humor, and comments about his relationship with his girlfriend. This made his set not only a good start, but also an overall bond with students on campus. Next was Sorich, whose set included some raunchy jokes about his parents and their sex life, which was one of the many highlights of the night, and finally, Chase finished with the right comedy method at the old that African Americans often like to indulge in making their white audiences as uncomfortable as possible with jokes about Lovecraft Country and more.

It was truly an evening to remember, from the comfort food jokes to the funnel cake fries and an intimate space provided by the Fluttering Duck, and I look forward to and encourage the students to see another performance. humor hosted by Woods for the rest of our year here.
