NBC Comes to Bayside to Film New Comedy Show ‘Hank Mardukas’

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — NBCUniversal came to Bayside on Thursday to film a new comedy series that has yet to be announced, according to flyers posted in the neighborhood and a city website.

The production team of ‘Hank Mardukas’ – a project possibly related to the 2009 film ‘I Love You, Man’ – demanded several parking spaces Thursday on 223rd Street between Northern Boulevard and 46th Avenue, flyers posted on the Bayside, Queens Facebook group.

“We understand that filming can be somewhat disruptive, and we will do everything we can to mitigate any possible inconvenience,” the flyer read.

Film crews also claimed space on the north side of 35th Avenue between Bell Boulevard and 213th Street between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., according to flyers.

Universal Television LLC, the television production company of NBCUniversal, has yet to make an official announcement regarding “Hank Mardukas” and press representatives did not immediately provide Patch with a comment.

The city’s Department of Media and Entertainment did not respond to Patch’s request for more information, but the project appears on their list of TV shows filming in New York.

The name Hank Mardukas appears in “I Love You, Man”, as the best friend of a character played by JK Simmons.

A clip shared on reddit shows that while the TV show has yet to make a splash, the character may already have a fan base.

“Thought me and my friends were the only ones enjoying this little reminder,” wrote one redditor.

“Every time your [sic] list a group of people for someone always add ‘and of course my best friend, Hank Mardukas.'”
