New legal thriller overtakes ‘Ozark’ as most popular show on Netflix with 108 million hours watched

Sorry, ozarklooks like there’s a new show dominating netflix.

After debuting in early May, Lincoln’s lawyer managed to climb to the top spot on the streaming service list of most watched shows in less than a week. And now the legal thriller is officially Netflix’s most popular English-language show, having made the Top 10 in 90 countries with an impressive 108.09 million hours viewed this week.

The 10-episode series topped the final season of ozarkwhich has amassed 31.4 million hours, as well as the Emmy winner Love, Death + Robots, which raked 14.42 million hours.

If the title of this Netflix series sounds familiar, it’s because a movie of the same name was released in 2011, starring Matthew McConaughey as the eponymous lawyer, Mickey Haller. However, this movie was actually adapted from a 2005 book of the same name by detective writer Michael Connelly.

Yet, although this trending TV show uses the same title, it is actually based on the second of Connelly’s books on Haller, titled The Brass Verdict. And in this series, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo fills the role of defense attorney (but don’t worry because from the trailer it looks like he brings an equal amount of sweetness to the role).

“One thing I know – success is all about momentum,” Haller says in the trailer. “In court, before you can win, you have to believe you can win.”

However, when asked, “But what if you don’t?” He replies, “Then you better pretend until you make it.”

Alongside Garcia-Rulfo, Lincoln’s lawyer stars Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson and Christopher Gorham. The series was created by David E. Kelley ( The Practice, Big Little Lies, Ally McBeal ) and developed by Ted Humphrey (The good wife).

The 10 episodes of Lincoln’s lawyer are now available to stream on Netflix. Don’t bother us while we’re all going to eat them all at once.
