Pet Show host Dermot O’Leary comments on co-star’s hair

Pet Show host Dermot O’Leary looked a little embarrassed after asking This Morning co-host Alison Hammond how she combed her fake hair.

The star blundered on an episode of the ITV show earlier this month.

The couple were talking about different ways to style curly hair when Dermot turned to Alison and said, “You have beautiful curls.”

The host appeared delighted at the compliment and rocked her hair back and forth, responding, “Thank you, thank you very much.”

But she stopped and looked at Dermot questioningly as he continued, “What are you doing with them?”

“What do you mean, what am I doing with them?” She asked, looking confused.

“How do you make them so curly?” Dermot replied.

“It’s fake hair! Alison exclaimed.

Dermot rushed to fix things after his blunder.

“Oh well, this is sensational,” he said, adding that he hadn’t realized it.

“I thought you were doing a different style every day.”

Alison saw the funny side and giggled.

She then told her This Morning co-star that the sport she was wearing that day was her “protective style.”

“When I want to protect my own hair for a while, I braid my hair underneath and then tie it up,” she said.

“It’s not even real hair, it’s like synthetic hair.”

What did viewers think of the exchange?

Several viewers then took to Twitter to comment on the awkward exchange.

“Alison took it really well and I applaud her for it,” one person tweeted.

Another posted: “Well handled by @AlisonHammond and @radioleary – but I can’t help but think this highlights the lack of education and awareness around different hair types (especially afro hair) UK.”

“@thismorning can you please educate @radioleary on dark hair!” urged another.

“It was just 100% embarrassing for him and Alison that he didn’t know she was wearing a weave!”
