Reinas de La Risa: the queens of laughter

Hollywood, California, May 3, 2022– Latin Hollywood Films announced today that Color Vision will air the comedy special Reinas de la Risa (Queens of Laughter). The show is the first stand-up comedy with an all-female cast and will air on Saturday May 28 at 8 p.m.celebrating mothers day weekend.

Queens of the Risa is a production of Latin Hollywood Films, a company headed by the prolific Kiki Melendez, which has a prestigious track record of success which includes TV shows Kiki Desde Hollywood on Galavision; Warm Live Tamales on Showtime, Locos and contents on Estrella TV, the Journey of a comic woman film currently airing on Peacock NBC TV, FYI Network Kiki-Mobile and many other projects in development. Queens of the Risa is one of five projects filmed by the production house this year in the Dominican Republic.

The show was taped at the Barcelo Bavaro Grand Resort in Punta Cana and features one of stand-up comedy’s most impressive actors—Jacqueline Estréla, Zulema Cruz, Cheddy Garciaand creator Kiki Melendez. The show also features Jini Lucianoa new talent who won a star search organized through the Santo Domingo Comedy Club to participate in Queens of the Risa. The show is hosted by the great actor Anderson Mercedes, and it was co-directed by Monchi Herrera.

The airing of this show is historic in nature as it places women at the forefront of comedy.

I did the same in the US with Hot Tamales Live and plan to continue doing so.”, reiterated Kiki, creator and CEO of Latin Hollywood Films. Hot Tamales Live is a multicultural comedy special for women that aired from 2009 to 2011 on Showtime and was part of the famous HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas in 2007.

Queens of the Risa was recorded as part of a trifecta of commissioned American TV specials and ended up “sneaking” into the process when Kiki Melendez came up with the idea.
