Green light – German engineering is a new 8-episode series from WarnerMedia Germany, which has started filming in Berlin. The series was inspired by one of Ricky gervais‘tweets from 2019 and now Gervais is set to star in the series.
About two years ago, Gervais congratulated the German actor Kida Ramadan for her portrayal of Toni Hamady in the series 4 blocks on Twitter. Gervais called his performance a “masterpiece”. Fast forward two years and Gervais and Ramadan now appear in Green light – German engineering and will play fictional versions of themselves.
The plot of the series centers around the idea that after seeing the comedian’s previous tweet praising his performance in 4 blocks, Ramadan tries to convince Gervais to let him create a German adaptation of his popular series Supplements. However, things don’t go well when Ramadan realizes that there are no international celebrities in Germany to star in the adaptation and that the German TV industry has a huge vortex of struggles to overcome.
Anke Greifeneder, Vice President of Original Production at WarnerMedia, said Variety, “Ricky Gervais’ tweet actually happened and ultimately led to the idea for the show. After the mock documentary” Other Parents “and the comedy-drama” The Mopes, “we once again show a variety of humor. completely different in our last Warner TV Original and we are delighted to have attracted this exceptional cast. ”
Actors joining actors Gervais and Ramadan in the series include Frederick Lau, Detlev Buck, Tom Schilling, Olli Schulz, Veysel Gelin, Maria Furtwängler, Heike Makatsch, Sascha Geršak, Britta Hammelstein, Katrin Bauerfeind, Christina Große, Wim Wenders, Trystan Pütter, Leander Haußmann, Kurt Krömer, Marc Haußmann, Kurt Krömer, Kathrinos Schlerin , Thorsten Merten, Anne Ratte Polle, Marvin Kren and much more.
The scenario for Green light – German engineering was written by Cüneyt Kaya, Detlev Buck, Seraina Nyikos, and Constantine lieb and Kaya and Buck lead. The series is produced by Warner TV Comedy and W&B Television in cooperation with Macadamia & Mothermils and CAB Film with BBC Studio Germany and Studio Babelsberg collaborating on the project.
W&B Television Producer and Managing Director Quirin Berg said: “What would ‘4 Blocks’ be without Toni Hamady? Difficult to imagine. But what would Toni Hamady be without ‘4 Blocks?’ It’s a fascinating question and impetus for a snapshot of our industry – humorous, never seen before, and with a sensational ensemble – taken from the real life of the very thoughtful lead actor, Kida Ramadan. “
This suggests that we can continue to see some brilliant Ramadan actors and hopefully some hilarious comedy from Gervais. So, let’s wait and see how this unexpected duo comes together in this exciting new series, Green light – German engineering.
“I’ve been there before anyway. I might as well give it to you. ‘
