Roma boss Paulo Fonseca compared to popular series character Peaky Blinders

Manchester United came from behind to claim a convincing 6-2 victory over AS Roma in their Europa League semi-final first leg at Old Trafford on Thursday night. United’s victory puts Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side firmly in the driver’s seat to advance to the final of the European competition. However, despite the Red Devils’ stunning result in the Manchester United vs Roma game, Roma boss Paulo Fonseca drew attention to the sidelines due to his appearance, with fans likening his look to that of a character from the popular Netflix series Peaky Blinders.

Manchester United vs Roma highlights: United take giant leap towards Europa League final

Man United and Roma exchanged goals early in the first half, with Bruno Fernandes scoring for the hosts before Lorenzo Pellegrini converted his shot on goal for Roma in the 15th minute following a Paul Pogba hand in the box. The visitors then took the lead when Pellegrini set up Edin Dzeko to put Roma ahead as half-time progressed. The former Man City striker finished at close range after an orderly build-up play as the Serie A side took a one-goal lead in the dressing room.

However, Man United equalized early in the second half with a sublime finish from Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan international unleashed an unstoppable first shot from an assist from Fernandes past Pau Lopez in the Roma goal. Cavani then put United in the lead just after 60 minutes when he was able to bounce back from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s saved effort and cram the ball into the net for the 3-2 lead.

Former Man United player Chris Smalling conceded a penalty for a foul on Cavani shortly after the hosts took the lead and Fernandes easily sent his kick on the spot to bring the score to 4-2 in favor of the hosts. Pogba’s header after a corner took Man United’s lead to three goals. Substitute Mason Greenwood put the tie even further out of Roma’s reach with an elegant finish shortly before full time to add even more shine to an impressive score for Solskjaer’s side.
