Singapore comedy shines a light on expat food, culture and life

LA Comedy Live is hosting a live comedy show that will feature four artists from around the world exploring a variety of themes ranging from fines, relationships with Singaporeans, and food and culture to expats living in the island country.

The Expat Comedy Show, a one-of-a-kind live comedy show, will be held on September 7 at the Esplanade Concert Hall.

The show will have four performers; Deepak Chandran (Indian), Orion Perez (Filipino), Liam McDonald (Canadian) and Artur Akhmetzyanov (Russian).

According to organizers, the event will allow attendees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 14 days before the event.

“Only vaccines approved by the Ministry of Health or any vaccine recognized in the World Health Organization’s emergency use list will be accepted for those who have taken both doses,” they added.

Deepak Chandran is a regular headliner in South and Southeast Asia, as well as an established host at Comedy Masala Singapore.

Nicknamed the “Master of Accents,” Orion Perez can ably introduce himself as Malaysian, Chinese, Singaporean and other nationalities.

“I specialize in jokes about languages, accents and ethnic or racial stereotypes,” he said.

Canadian comic who interprets a mixture of stand-up and improvisation, Liam has performed live in Canada, the United States and Singapore.

Artur Akhmetzyanov is the winner of the 2018 Bangkok International Comedy Competition and Singapore’s only Russian actor.
