The morning show host reveals his engagement live on air

BBC weather reporter Carol Kirkwood has revealed live that she is now engaged, 14 years after divorcing her first husband. On the May 23 episode of BBC Breakfast, at the end of the weather forecast, host Sally Nugent suddenly remarked: “I’m a little worried about you this morning. I don’t know how you cope with this. giant boulder on your left hand, Carol.”

Kirkwood, 59, replied, “Oh that one, thanks Sal. That’s pretty cool, I got engaged.” Nugent said: “Congratulations from all of us, this is the happiest of news, we are so, so thrilled, congratulations. Can we confirm to the nation what happened?”

“Oh, thanks, yes, I think you just got Sal!” Kirkwood replied, “Yeah, I got engaged, we got engaged when we were on vacation, so that’s great news, and we’re both thrilled. So, thank you!” The TV presenter has yet to publicly reveal the name of her new fiancé but admitted she got engaged while on vacation. The couple reunited in 2021, which is known so far.

She has been broadcasting weather updates on the BBC since 1998. Born in Scotland, Kirkwood appeared in the 13th series of the reality show. Come dance strictly. Previously she said prima magazine in June 2021, “I don’t want to say too much about my boyfriend, but I will say he is very nice and very funny – he always makes me laugh. And extremely handsome too.”

“He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it’s 2:45 in the morning, and he often leaves me a little love note for when I get home from work,” added Kirkwood. “That, to me, is worth a million red roses.”

Kirkwood married real estate developer Jimmy Kirkwood in 1990 and they were married for 18 years before divorcing. She told the Radio schedules that getting a divorce was a good decision. “I found myself when I got divorced,” she said. “I started doing things and thinking, ‘I’m not going to say no, I’m going to say yes!'”

In 2015, Kirkwood said The mirror, “I absolutely believe in marriage.” If you are married to the person who is your soul mate and the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. “It would be nice to see someone, but that’s not the all and everything.” The broadcaster is covering the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations from Scotland.
