The popular show will be back in 2022

The organizers of one of Cornwall’s most beloved one-day agricultural shows have announced that it will be back for 2022.

The Liskeard Show, which was held in Merrymeet, was canceled in 2020 and 21 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but at the last annual general meeting it was decided to start planning for July of next year.

It’s been a tough few years, but as show president Colin Dymond explains, now is the time to get the show back on the road.

“There is nothing worse than having to cancel such a popular annual show, but we had to consider everyone’s safety as the pandemic took hold,” he said.

“However, we are confident for 2022 and it was a great moment at our AGM when we voted unanimously to start again next year. It is a time of celebration for all of us and we look forward to welcoming once again the 8,000 people who will attend.

Work is now starting in earnest to prepare for the event, one of the biggest one-day shows in the Southwest. There is something for everyone, as General Secretary Beckie Breyley explains: “We are delighted that our show always attracts very high quality applications in a range of classes from cattle and sheep to dogs, donkeys, horses, poultry, fruits, vegetables and flowers. .

“It’s a busy and busy day for everyone, be it a visitor or a competitor, and we are all very excited to get down to work to prepare for the show. which will take place on Saturday July 9, 2022. ”

The show, now in its 117th year, is held in Merrymeet (PL14 3LE) just outside Liskeard, with doors opening from 9am. In addition to animal classes, there is a wide range of attractions ranging from Cornish food and drink to crafts and over 240 retail, craft and charity stalls. There are also activities for children, entertainment in the main ring, music and ample parking.
